Fly Fishing Southeast Louisiana – June Report

June in Southeast Louisiana marks the full arrival of summer, and with it, some of the most dynamic and rewarding fly fishing of the year. The marsh is alive and bait is moving, water temperatures are rising, and the flats are filling with hungry Redfish, Sheepshead, & Black Drum. As long as you don't mind sweating all day, or possibly being caught in a pop up shower, this is a great month to cover water and hunt fish in skinny water.

These summer months tend to bring you around more grassy areas of water. So, its important to use a fly with a good weed guard! As far as sheepshead are concerned, the best flies seem to be any form of olive small crab pattern. There will be a list of successful flies below!
